so tears for jesse jackson then

Of joy and relief. For me too as I caught the closing montage of the BBC1 overnight election special. Was just finishing some (very) early morning exercise when I remembered that the world may have changed overnight. I guess I’d blotted it out because I hadn’t dared to hope. Brief memory of dressing in front of the gas fire in 1991 (before we had central heating and before Lisa was born), watching the end of the first Gulf War and thinking that the future might be safer. More darkness was to descend in years to come – but now some light, some light for goodness’ sake. We can accomplish anything. The dream is alive. Even the maligned ghost of Guy Fawkes is raising a glass. Here’s (metaphorically, of course, at this time of day) to some real words and flowing sentences.
